Bagudu commends Tinubu’s backing for Argungu festival, motor rally

The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his strong support for the Argungu International Fishing Festival, describing it as a boost to Nigeria’s cultural and economic profile.

Bagudu gave the commendation on Wednesday in Abuja during the flag-off of the Argungu Motor Rally. He said the President’s recent engagement with Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, and his readiness to attend the festival had generated significant national and international attention for the cultural event and its associated motor rally.

According to the minister, the Tinubu administration recognises Nigeria’s rich cultural and creative sectors as vital economic assets. He noted that the country’s traditions, heritage and creative spirit possess immense potential to stimulate growth, attract investment and create employment opportunities.

Bagudu congratulated Governor Idris for his leadership and commitment to sustaining the Argungu Festival. He recalled participating in the March 2020 edition of the festival, held shortly before the COVID-19 lockdown, and praised the steady growth and development of the event over the years.

He described both the fishing festival and the motor rally as symbols of the resilience of the Nigerian people. The rally, which covers Abuja, Kano and Argungu, he said, sends a strong message that the nation is making progress, normalcy is returning, and investments in security are yielding positive outcomes.

The minister acknowledged the presence of representatives from the investment community, the automotive industry, the creative economy, government agencies, the diplomatic corps, community leaders and other dignitaries at the event.

He also applauded private sector sponsors and participating automotive companies, describing their involvement as a strong vote of confidence in Nigeria’s economy. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting domestic manufacturers and investors who contribute to local production and value creation.

Bagudu expressed optimism that the Argungu International Fishing Festival and Motor Rally would be successful and safe, describing the event as a national platform showcasing Nigeria’s unity, cultural heritage, resilience and economic potential.
