Bayelsa governor denies allegations of impregnating ex-BBNaija star Nengi

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has dismissed viral claims linking him to the pregnancy of former Big Brother Naija housemate, Nengi Rebecca Hampson, labeling the allegations as politically motivated falsehoods.

The rumor, which gained traction on social media after a popular blogging platform made the claim, has been publicly debunked by Nengi herself.

In response, Governor Diri expressed shock and disappointment over the spread of such misinformation, especially on the day his administration marked its fifth anniversary.

His Director of New Media, Dr. Kola Oredipe, also addressed the controversy in a social media post, describing it as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the governor’s reputation.

“Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with Governor Diri. It is regrettable that purveyors of fake news are not happy with the towering political profile of the governor,” Oredipe stated.

He further condemned the misuse of social media in spreading unfounded allegations, calling it an attempt to distract from the administration’s achievements.

“This is a distraction, and some of us are very justified in the many reasons offered to regulate the use of various social media platforms,” he added.

Oredipe emphasized that while Governor Diri was inaugurating a new road project in Yenagoa, political detractors were busy spreading falsehoods.

He reaffirmed that the governor remains a man of honor and that the claims hold no factual basis.
