Bayelsa monarch, Moses Kenibara VII, reportedly dies after cosmetic surgery

The community of Moko-Ama in Bayelsa State has been thrown into mourning following the death of the Amadabo of Akassa Kingdom, His Royal Highness Moses Kenibara VII, who reportedly died from complications following liposuction surgery.

The 64-year-old monarch was remembered for his contributions to peace, unity and development in the Niger Delta, as tributes from mourners circulated online on October 9, 2026.

Kenibara VII was the traditional ruler of Moko-Ama in Sangana, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Beyond his traditional leadership, he served as chairman of the Akassa Clan Council of Chiefs and chairman of the Central Zone of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), succeeding Chief Newton Igbani-Okuru.

He was crowned Amadabo of Moko-Ama in 2016, a position he reportedly regarded as a divine calling.

Further details about the circumstances surrounding his death are expected to emerge in the coming days.
