BBNaija’s Tacha eyes politics, vows to drive change in Rivers State
By Tosin Brown –
Reality TV star Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has revealed plans to venture into politics with the aim of driving meaningful change in her home state, Rivers.
Speaking in a recent interview with media personality Ebuka, the BBNaija alumna expressed deep concern over what she described as the underutilization of Rivers State’s vast potential, especially when compared to cities like Abuja and Lagos.
“When I look at other states like Abuja and Lagos and see how far they’ve come—and then consider the potential Rivers State has—it’s disappointing. They’re not trying to tap into it. There are so many youths and so much talent. If the government would shine a light on it, a lot could happen,” she said.
Tacha confirmed that her interest in politics is not just talk, stating that she is actively working toward a political career. “It is something I’m working on. I want it to be at least 70% complete before I start talking about it seriously. It doesn’t make sense to keep granting interviews and talking about governance without being actively involved,” she said.
She stressed the importance of young people stepping into leadership roles if they want real change, noting that political participation is the next step in her journey.
Tacha rose to national fame in 2019 as a contestant on the BBNaija “Pepper Dem” season, where she was eventually disqualified following a series of altercations. Despite the controversy, she has remained a prominent media personality and now appears poised to enter the political space.
