Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday urged male students in Lagos State to be good ambassadors of their schools and the state, while assuring that the opportunities given to them would lead to a brighter future.
He spoke on the third day of the 2026 four-day residential workshop themed “Reorienting the Boy-Child to Become an Ambassador of Societal Change” held at St. Gregory’s College.
The governor said the Boy Child Initiative, organised by the first lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, is designed to help participants become better citizens, while noting that participants were carefully selected from about 60 public, private, special and faith-based schools.
Sanwo-Olu told the boys that they were privileged to be part of the programme and should give a good account of themselves, while further encouraging them to serve as worthy ambassadors of the initiative.
Citing the One Day Governor initiative started by Oluremi Tinubu during her time as first lady of Lagos State, the governor noted that the most recent edition of the programme saw girls win all top positions, thereby challenging the boys to work hard and aim to emerge as One Day Governor in future competitions.
Sanwo-Olu further urged the participants to become better children to their parents and responsible members of their communities, adding that the training received at the workshop should reflect in their conduct and academic performance.
Whilst giving her remark, the first lady called on parents and stakeholders to provide proper support for boys whilst indicating that the initiative was created to give boys the attention and guidance they need to grow into confident and productive members of society
