‘Beacon of service, excellence’ – Gov. Aiyedatiwa celebrates Baba Ifejola Arowolo at 80

The Dome in Akure was abuzz with dignitaries on Saturday as family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the 80th birthday of Baba Ifejola Arowolo, a revered pharmacist and former Director of Pharmaceutical Services in Ondo State.

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, was represented at the event by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, OON. Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Dr. Ajulo commended Arowolo for his outstanding contributions to public service, particularly his pioneering efforts as the first Chairman of the National Drug Abuse Committee in Ondo State, where he played a key role in combating counterfeit drugs.

Delivering a personal message from Governor Aiyedatiwa, Dr. Ajulo described Arowolo as a beacon of hope and inspiration.

“Today, we celebrate not just the passage of time but a life rich in achievements, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to our community. Baba Arowolo has touched many lives through his exemplary service,” the message read.

The Governor also acknowledged the vital role of family and friends in Arowolo’s journey, expressing gratitude to Mrs. Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser to the President on Energy, for her dedication to her father and family.

The event was graced by prominent personalities, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi; the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Victor Kiladejo; and the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Engr. Gbenga Komolafe.

The celebration featured cultural performances, heartfelt tributes, and an outpouring of appreciation for Baba Arowolo’s enduring legacy in the pharmaceutical sector and beyond.
