Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for visiting the state following the recent attack on Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Alia described the President’s visit and show of support as a source of hope and strength for the people of Benue.
The governor commended President Tinubu for his commitment to establishing a lasting peace framework and for directing security agencies to apprehend and prosecute those behind the attacks.
He also appreciated the President’s specific instructions to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Inspector General of Police to take decisive action on the state’s security concerns.
Alia emphasized the need for urgent and concrete steps to neutralize threats from armed herders, saying such action would restore residents’ confidence and enable farmers to return to their land safely.
He further thanked members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, led by Senator Hope Uzodinma, for their solidarity and support during the crisis.
“The people of Benue take great solace in the leadership and compassion shown by Mr President, fellow governors, and well-meaning Nigerians during this trying period,” he said.
Governor Alia assured citizens that his administration would continue working with stakeholders to restore peace and rebuild affected communities across the state.
