Bolarinwa declares governorship bid, pledges security

Bashir Bolarinwa, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, pledging to make security and human capital development top priorities of his administration if elected.
Bolarinwa, popularly known as BOB, made the declaration on Tuesday before thousands of supporters, party members and stakeholders drawn from within and outside Kwara State.
He said his administration would take decisive steps to address insecurity across the state, especially amid growing concerns over killings and kidnappings linked to bandit activities in some communities.
“The safety of citizens will be non-negotiable under my leadership. We will decisively tackle and comprehensively address insecurity at all levels, ensuring the safety of lives and property across every part of the state,” he said.
Beyond security, Bolarinwa said his government would invest heavily in education, healthcare and skills acquisition to empower youths and women and drive sustainable development.
“We will invest in education, healthcare and skills acquisition, ensuring that our youths and women are empowered as drivers of growth and stability,” he added.
The APC chieftain said his decision to join the race was motivated by a desire to serve the people of Kwara at a higher level.
“Today, I stand before you not just as a politician, but as a son of the soil who understands the struggles and aspirations of our people,” he stated.
