BREAKING: 23-year-old allegedly kills mother with machete in Ondo

A 23-year-old man, identified as Samuel Akuade, has allegedly killed his mother, Olufunke Akuade, with a cutlass in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident reportedly occurred around 5pm on Sunday in the Powerline area, along the Ore-Okitipupa Road, leaving residents shocked and apprehensive.

Samuel was said to have attacked his mother during the incident, inflicting severe cutlass wounds on her.

A source in the community said the woman reportedly died from the injuries sustained during the attack.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear as of the time of filing this report, while the motive for the alleged killing had yet to be established.

A security source, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect had been arrested by the police in Ore.

The source said, “The suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody as investigation into the incident continues.”

The remains of the deceased were subsequently deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ore, while the police were expected to commence further investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
