BREAKING: Court rejects Emefiele’s request to stop disqualification from presidential election
The Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected the request by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele to stop his disqualification from contesting in the 2023 presidential election.
Emefiele had approached the court to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from disqualifying him without stepping down as CBN governor.
The court which sat on Monday, however, refused Emefiele’s prayers.
It ordered INEC and the Attorney-General of the Federation to appear before it on May 12.
