BREAKING: Delta Police confirms release of abducted ex-lawmaker, Ada Anioma

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the release of Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi popularly called Ada-Anioma from captivity.

Onyemaechi who represented the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives in 2015, was abducted last Tuesday at her church along DBS road, Asaba during church service.

During her abduction, two police officers attached to her were shot by the gunmen, killing one in the process while the other sustained injuries.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed her release in an announcement on its X handle on Saturday morning.

It reads: “Police PRO SP Bright Edafe has just officially confirmed Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi (Ada-Anioma) has been released by her abductors …details coming.”

Hon. Onyemaechi also served as a lawmaker for the Aniocha South at the Delta State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2015. She was appointed by the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, as the Commissioner for Technical Education before she later resigned earlier this year.
