BREAKING: Director of Operations Chukkol takes over at EFCC
The new acting henchman at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is Abdulkarim Chukkol.
This is contrary to reports in some newspapers and online editions that the former Director of Operations of EFCC, Mohammed Umar had taken over from from the suspended Chairman of the commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa.
Abdukarim Chukkol from Adamawa State is the present Director of Operations of the agency.
Umar had acted when Ibrahim Magu was relieved of his job as EFCC chairman but Bawa who took over then had transferred Umar back to the police force.
Chukkol is expected to reorganise the anti-graft commission and make the organisation fit for purpose after years of poor image among Nigerians and bad management by previous henchmen who had to be removed following various petitions against them by civil society organisations and politicians.
Before his suspension, Bawa had been having running battles with some former governors. Former Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle accused Bawa of demanding $2million from him, an allegation Bawa stoutly denied.
