BREAKING: Edo DG sues PDP, Ighodalo over governorship primaries outcome
The deputy governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has dragged Asue Ighodalo, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to court over the outcome of the recently concluded governorship primary election.
In the lawsuit, Shaibu also sued the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
WesternPost had reported that Ighodalo emerged PDP governorship candidate for the September election.
Ighodalo is the preferred candidate of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
But Shaibu, who was also declared winner of a parallel governorship poll which took place at his residence, has since disagreed with Ighodalo’s victory.
Days after the primary election, Shaibu arrived the PDP national secretariat in Abuja to demand for his certificate of return.
Shaibu claimed that he is PDP’s authentic governorship candidate for the election.
He is seeking a court order to invalidate the election that took place at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, where Asue Ighodalo was declared the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate.
It would be recalled that the House of Assembly has served impeachment notice on Shaibu, accusing of ‘gross misconduct’.
