BREAKING: EFCC arrests ex-Skye Bank chairman Ayeni over alleged N36bn, $30m fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Tunde Ayeni, a businessman and former chairman of the defunct Skye Bank Plc, over alleged financial misconduct involving N36.5 billion and $30 million.

According to a report by TheCable, Ayeni was arrested in Abuja on Thursday and is currently being held in EFCC custody as investigations continue.

Sources familiar with the matter have disclosed that the anti-graft agency is probing the alleged diversion and misappropriation of funds said to have been obtained from Polaris Bank Plc through companies linked to him.

The funds are suspected to have been siphoned through a network of corporate entities allegedly connected to the former bank chairman.

EFCC officials are yet to release full details of the investigation, but said further updates would be provided as the case progresses.
