BREAKING: Eid-al-Fitr to be observed on Friday as Shawwal Moon not sighted

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have announced that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Shawwal 1447 AH was not sighted on Wednesday, confirming that the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan will complete 30 days.

With the non-sighting of the moon, Eid-al-Fitr will now be observed on Friday, March 20, 2026.

The announcement follows the traditional moon-sighting process used to determine the end of Ramadan and the commencement of the new Islamic month.

Muslims across Saudi Arabia are expected to complete the 30th day of fasting on Thursday before celebrating Eid-al-Fitr the following day.

Eid-al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and is celebrated with prayers, feasting, and acts of charity by Muslims worldwide.
