BREAKING: Eid-el-Fitri may be Wednesday, April 10

Contrary to popular expectation that this year’s Ramadan fast may end this Monday evening, making it 29, and Tuesday as Eid-el-Fitri, it has emerged that the Islamic festival may be Wednesday.

This is because up till now the moon has not been sighted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This means fasting continues tomorrow and Wednesday is Eid.

Muslims worldwide usually rely on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for directive on the festival following the sighting of the crescent.

The Ramadan fast, one of the five pillars of Islam, during which Muslims abstain from food, drink and other wordly things, can either be for 29 or 30 days.

It is on record that Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) observed more of 29 days fast than 30 days.

The Federal Government has since declared Tuesday and Wednesday as holiday for the Eid-el-Fitri.
