BREAKING: Emefiele gets N50m bail

A Special Offenses Court in Ikeja, Lagos, Friday, granted the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele a N50 million bail.
Emefiele faces accusations of fraud totalling N2.8 billion and 4.5 billion.
In his decision, Judge Rahman Oshodi granted Emefiele bail with two sureties in the same amount.
According to the ruling, the sureties had to have paid taxes to the Lagos State Government for three years and be employed gainfully.
In addition, the court mandated that the sureties must be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System and provide valid identification.
The judge expressed satisfaction with the N1 million bail terms previously granted to Henry Isioma-Omoil, Emefiele’s co-defendant, currently facing additional charges before Justice Olufunke Sule-Hamzat in a Yaba High Court.
However, according to Justice Oshodi, the bail paperwork must be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System and sent to the special offences court.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on April 8 charged Emefiele with 23 counts related to abuse of office, accepting gratifications, corrupt demand, receiving property obtained fraudulently, and conferring corrupt advantage. His co-defendant was charged on April 8 with three counts related to accepting gifts from agents.
