BREAKING: Ex-FCT Minister, Olajumoke Akinjide, resigns from PDP, signals defection to APC

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Olajumoke Akinjide, has resigned from the party.
Her resignation was conveyed in a letter addressed to the PDP Ward 1 Chairman in Ona Ara Local Government Area of Ibadan on Monday.
Akinjide said her decision followed careful consideration, noting that she had been a committed member of the party since 2001.
Describing the move as difficult, the former minister explained that it came after a prolonged period of personal reflection.
“I hereby formally give notice of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately.This decision was not taken lightly, given that I have been a member of the party since 2001. I arrived at this decision after a long period of personal reflection”, said Akinjide.
She expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities it provided, including the platform for political participation and the relationships she built over the years.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a member of the party and for the experiences and relationships built during my time. I wish the party success in the future,” she added.
Meanwhile, a close associate of the former minister, Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan, confirmed that Akinjide is set to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
