BREAKING: Fire guts motherless babies home in Lagos

An inferno on Sunday destroyed a part of Tower of Refuge Motherless /Orphanage Babies Home located at 7, Wole Madariola Street off Enitan Kusimo Street Aguda, Surulere area of Lagos.
The one-storey building, housing an orphanage/motherless babies home caught fire in the early hours of today.
WesternPost gathered that the fire started from an air conditioning unit in the house as a result of power surge and quickly spread out.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Fire Agency said no life was lost and no injury sustained in the inferno.
The agency in a statement said: ”A total of 7 boys (with the eldest being 7 years old and the smallest being 1 year old) were quickly evacuated from the home and are safely seated in the compound of the house opposite the home.
“The management of the home has informed us of plans to move them to the house of the owner to ensure their welfare is sustained.
”Efforts are currently ongoing to bring the fire under control.
”Responders, including LASEMA Response Team, LRU FIRE, LASG FIRE and Nigeria Police were at the site to control the inferno.”
