BREAKING: Funminiyi Afuye, Speaker Ekiti State House of Assembly is dead

News has just emerged that the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye died this evening. He was 66 years old.
The late Speaker was seen in Ado Ekiti yesterday participating in government activities with the new Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
He was said to have suffered cardiac arrest and passed on this evening at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), where he was receiving treatment.
Hon. Afuye represented Ikere Constituency 2 in the state House of Assembly. He was former Majority Leader of the House of Assembly under the administration of former Governor Segun Oni and served as Commissioner of Information and later Intergovernmental Affairs during Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s first administration.
He returned to the state House of Assembly in 2019 with the second coming of Fayemi and became the Speaker.
The death of the late Speaker has caused a huge shock within Ekiti State political and government circles. It is said that one of his children is getting married this weekend in Lagos..
