BREAKING: Governor Eno reshuffles cabinet, revokes land allocations for revalidation
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced a minor cabinet reshuffle and the revocation of all land allocations made between May 29, 2023, and August 25, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery.
The reshuffle, approved on Monday, was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah.
In the changes, Capt. Iniobong Ekong (Rtd.) has been redeployed to head the Ministry of Trade and Investment, while Dr. Ubong Inyang takes over as Commissioner for Lands and Town Planning, previously overseen by Ekong.
The government explained that the move was aimed at aligning ministries more effectively with the implementation of the ARISE Agenda.
In a separate statement signed by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Essien Udom, SAN, the government also revoked all land allocations within the specified period, including those on government-acquired lands. He explained that the action was necessary to enable the revalidation of allocations and the migration of records to the new digital Akwa-GIS platform.
The statement added that all fresh allocations and land transactions are suspended for one month, during which the Directorate of Lands will be shut down. The revalidation exercise is scheduled to last two months and will be conducted by the GIS office in the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning.
The government further warned that any land allocation or interest not revalidated within the stipulated timeframe will be declared invalid.
Both the cabinet reshuffle and the land policy review take immediate effect.
