Photos and videos of the Labour Party chairman posted on the X handle of a whistleblower known as 99% Oppressed @pidomnigeria shows Barrister Abure seated on the bare ground with policemen around him. He was also pictured seating in a black police vehicle.

It is still unclear why the Labour Party national chairman was arrested.

However, Barrister Abure has been embroiled in allegations of corruption levelled against him by the suspended Labour Party National Treasurer, Oluchi Opara.

Opara had at a press conference in Abuja accused the national chairman of misappropriating N3.5bn, an allegation Barrister Abure described as baseless.

But following the allegations against the embattled national chairman, some Labour Party state chairmen recently paid a solidarity visit to Abure and passed a vote of confidence on him.
