BREAKING: Makinde wins Oyo PDP governorship ticket to run for second term

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket in the state to run for a second term in office.
Makinde defeated his challenger, Azeem Gbolarumi, to claim the party’s ticket in the primary election held on Wednesday.
According to the Returning Officer, Abdulahi Maibasira, the incumbent governor scored 1,040 votes while Gbolarumi scored two votes.
He therefore declared Makinde the winner after securing the highest number of votes.
Makinde, while reacting to his victory, said he was overwhelmed by the support of the people while calling on them to support him to win the governorship election next year.
He said he enjoyed the support of the people because he had been truthful to them since he took over power in 2019.
