BREAKING: Nigeria to stop importing Polypropylene by October, says Dangote

The Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote on Tuesday disclosed that Nigeria by October 2024 will stop importing of Polypropylene, stressing that the $20billion Dangote Refinery is ready to meet market demands.

The 650,000 barrels per day Dangote refinery located in Lagos has concluded the test production of petroleum and will begin sale immediately.

Speaking to journalists on AriseTV during the “Breakfast show”, he stated that  the management of Dangote refinery is proud of its achievement as the refinery begins the production of petrol.

He said, “Let me assure you of one thing. We have demand for Polypropylene in the country. Nigeria from October 2024 will not import Polypropylene, which is a quarter a million tonnes. 

“We will satisfy the market 100 per cent. All these industries  that were struggling to source for the product and foreign exchange can now have access to Polypropylene from Dangote Refinery.”

Polypropylene is a commodity plastic with low density and high heat resistance.

Pallets, bottles, jars, yogurt containers, hot beverage cups, and food packaging are some of the products made with this material. Polypropylene is also frequently used in the automotive industry to produce batteries, bumpers, instrument panels, interior elements, and door trims.
