BREAKING: Nigeria would start producing 2 million barrels per day from 2024, new NNPCL board assures Tinubu

The newly inaugurated board members of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited have assured President Bola Tinubu of its commitment to increase the production of crude oil to 2 million barrels per day starting from next year.

Pius Akinyelure the board chairman of the NNPCL said this on Monday while addressing State House reporters at the presidential Villa in Abuja.

“We would ensure Nigeria start producing 2 million barrel of oil starting from next year,” Akinyelure said.

The board members were led by the incumbent Group Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mele Kyari, who paid Tinubu a courtesy visit at the villa.

WesternPost reported in November that Tinubu appointed Kyari for a second term as GMD NNPCL alongside seven others as the new board members of the Nigerian petroleum company.

The board members include Umar Ajiya as Chief Financial Officer; Ledum Mitee, Musa Tumsa and Ghali Muhammad as non-executive directors.

Others non-executive directors are Mustapha Aliyu, David Ogbodo andEunice Thomas.
