BREAKING: Obasanjo meets Wike, Obi, others in London

Former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Thursday, met Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, former Cross Rivers State Governor, Donald Duke and others in London.

While details of the meeting remain unknown, it is believed it has connection with the 2023 general elections and politics of who becomes the next President of Nigeria.

Governor Wike reportedly met with All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in France on Monday as part of wider consultation and political realignment currently going on in the country following his disenchantment with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

At Obasanjo’s meeting with Wike and Obi are Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

The Labour Party candidate few days ago met Obasanjo at his Presidential Library in Abeokuta where he sought his support for his presidential ambition.

Asiwaju Tinubu also met with Obasanjo in Abeokuta last week in company of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, Chief Bisi Akande, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Obasanjo has previously expressed his view that the next President of Nigeria should come from the South East because the region has not produced the leader of Nigeria apart from the short spell of General Aguiyi Ironsi who was military Head of State for just six months in 1966.

It is not unlikely that the former President is leading support for Peter Obi.
