Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said his administration will continue to tap into the experience of retired permanent secretaries and senior civil servants to strengthen governance and service delivery in the state.
Aiyedatiwa stated this on Wednesday during the annual send-off ceremony organised for retired permanent secretaries and tutors-general in Akure.
The governor described retired civil servants as valuable assets, noting that their wealth of experience and institutional knowledge remained important to the development of the state.
He said, “Our administration will continue to leverage the intellectual capacity and administrative experience of retired permanent secretaries and senior officers to improve governance and public service efficiency.”
Aiyedatiwa added that some retired heads of service and permanent secretaries had already been appointed into key political positions because of their competence and contributions to the growth of the state.
Speaking at the event, the Head of Service, Mr Bayo Philip, commended the governor for prioritising workers’ welfare and improving conditions within the civil service.
Philip disclosed that the state government had approved the implementation of the federal salary review for medical officers and other health workers, adding that Ondo was among the first states to adopt the scale.
“The governor has also approved the recruitment of more health workers, while about 5,000 new workers have already been employed to strengthen the workforce across the state civil service,” he added.
