BREAKING: President Tinubu arrives in Kebbi for Argungu fishing festival

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State, as the 61st edition of the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival (AIFCF) kicks off.
The president is expected at the fishing arena shortly, where he will join other dignitaries for the highlight of the festival — the grand fishing competition at the Matan Fada River in Argungu.
The Argungu festival is an annual cultural and tourism event that brings together thousands of fishermen who compete for prizes by catching the biggest fish using traditional methods.
Beyond the fishing contest, the festival features cultural displays, traditional wrestling, music performances, canoe racing and exhibitions showcasing the rich heritage of Kebbi and neighbouring communities.
Among the high-profile guests present are the governors of Sokoto State and other states, who are set to accompany the president to formally declare the festival open.
The fishing arena is already filled to capacity with spectators, traditional rulers, members of the diplomatic corps and foreign journalists from China, India and several West African countries awaiting the commencement of proceedings.
