President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the bill establishing the Federal University of Environment and Technology in Tai, Ogoniland.

The signing ceremony took place at the State House, attended by key figures, including Senator Mpigi Barinada, who represents Ogoniland in the Senate; National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu; the Minister of Education; and other top government officials.

This development follows a meeting held weeks ago between the president and leaders from the South-South region, where significant progress was discussed regarding the Ogoni cleanup project.

Western Post reported that the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal, stated that efforts have led to the remediation of 36 polluted sites and the commissioning of seven additional water projects in Ogoniland, Rivers State.
