BREAKING: Ramadan begins Monday, Sultan Abubakar announces

Ramadan fasting will commence in Nigeria on Monday, March 11th 2024, the Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar, announced on Sunday night.
The Sultan, who is also the President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), wishes every Muslim participates in the in the month-long fasting, maximizing the benefits
According to the National Moon Sighting Committee, the announcement was made following the sighting of the crescent moon in Nigeria.
A statement by the Sultan said, “The Sultan felicitates with the entire Muslim community on the auspicious occasion of the forthcoming 1445AH Ramadan Fast.”
Ramadan, the ninth lunar month of the Islamic calendar is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month for fasting, prayer, reflection and assisting the less privileged.
Throughout the month, Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, smoking, and sexual relations to achieve greater spiritual consciousness.
