BREAKING: Students protest at Ondo College of Health Technology

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Students of the Ondo State College of Health Technology, Akure, on Monday staged a protest over alleged extortion and poor infrastructure at the institution.

The protesters gathered at the school’s main gate, blocking access, setting tyres on fire, and chanting slogans, bringing academic activities to a halt.

They vowed that lectures and examinations would not resume until the management addressed their grievances, which they described as long-standing neglect.

Armed with placards bearing various inscriptions, the students highlighted what they said were dilapidated classrooms, hostels, and laboratories.

They also complained about the lack of a steady water supply on campus, which they said had worsened living and learning conditions.

Some students accused the school authorities of collecting what they described as arbitrary fees despite the poor state of facilities.

According to them, several appeals and complaints made to the management yielded no results, leaving them with no option but to protest.

As of the time of filing this report, the school management had not officially responded to the students’ allegations.
