BREAKING: Supreme Court announces date to hear Atiku’s petition against Tinubu’s election

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has fixed Monday, October 23, as the date for hearing the petition filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar against the election of President Bola Tinubu.
The petition challenges the validity of the February 18 presidential election, which was won by Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was affirmed by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The apex court made the announcement in a notice issued on Thursday, October 19 and signed by the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Zainab Garba .
The notice said, “Take notice that the above appeal/motion will be listed for hearing before the Supreme Court of Nigeria siting at Abuja on Monday, 23rd October 2023.
“And further take notice that in accordance with Order 2 Rule 1(2) of the
Supreme Court Rules 1985, as amended, this NOTICE is deemed sufficiently served
on you if it is left at your address of service or sent by registered post and since the date of service by post is material, Section 26 of the Interpretation Act, 1964 shall apply.”
