BREAKING: Three APC governors in Rivers to woo Wike for Tinubu

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, is currently leading two other All Progressives Congress (APC) governors from the South West, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Rotimi Akeredolu in a meeting with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Government House, Port Harcourt.

WesternPost gathered that since Wike was left out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket as the running mate to the PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar, he opened communication channels with the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is expected to return from his engagements in France today.

PDP leaders including Atiku himself have been sending emissaries to Wike since Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, was picked as the Vice-Presidential candidate. Wike is said to be angry that Atiku by passed him to pick Okowa.

Wike came second in the PDP presidential primary which took place in Abuja in May and he has not hidden his disappointment since then against the party for violating its own constitution that allows for zoning of the presidential ticket.

Governors from the Southern Nigeria across party lines met and agreed that the next president of Nigeria must come from the South after the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Fayemi according to sources travelled to Port Harcourt with his two other colleagues from the South West to woo Wike to support Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in line with their commitment that the next president should come from the South.

It is not clear yet the kind of deal Fayemi and Akeredolu hope to strike with Wike in view of the fact of no love lost relationship between the Rivers State Governor and Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of the state and immediate past Minister of Transport who is the arrowhead of APC in Rivers State and South South.

It would be recalled that South South Caucus of APC met few days ago where the leaders from the zone vowed to mobilise for the victory of Tinubu and APC in next general elections.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose who is known to have started mobilising support for Tinubu is also in Port Harcourt with Wike to receive the APC Governors.
