BREAKING: Tinubu inaugurates National Economic Council, Shettima, 36 governors in attendance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday inaugurated the National Economic Council at the State House, Abuja.

The National Economic Council which is a constitutional body headed by the Vice President and has Governors of 36 states, Governor of Central Bank and Minister of Finance as statutory members, advises the President on the management of the national economy and effective coordination with sub-national governments.

The first NEC meeting under the Tinubu administration started 10am.

WesternPost gathered that the NEC will discuss the recent subsidy removal, unification of foreign exchange and plans for palliatives that will help cushion some of the effects of the recent fiscal and monetary policy decisions on the people.

Acting Governor of Central Bank, Folashodun Shonubi, is attending the meeting with Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Finance in the absence of Minister of Finance.
