BREAKING: Tinubu picks Kashim Shettima as running mate
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has picked former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shetima as his running mate.
Tinubu announced Shettima’s choice while speaking to reporters after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura on Sunday.
Tinubu was accompanied to Daura by Governor Aminu Masari shortly after his aircraft landed at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport in Katsina State.
Senator Shettima is former Governor of Borno State and a close associate of Tinubu who has been a staunch supporter and campaigner for the choice of Tinubu as the next President of Nigeria.
He toured many states with Tinubu since December 2021 where he addressed party delegates and mobilised support for the former Governor of Lagos State.
WesternPost had earlier reported that Ibrahim Masari whose name had earlier been submitted as the vice presidential candidate had announced his withdrawal.
Masari announced his withdrawal in a statement on Sunday.
