Buhari hails Tinubu at 73, expresses pride in their political alliance

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has celebrated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his 73rd birthday, highlighting their enduring political alliance and contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey.
In a telephone call on Friday, Buhari joined the nation in honoring Tinubu, offering prayers for his long life, good health, and a successful administration.
“When we pray for our leaders, we are praying for ourselves and the nation. We owe this to ourselves and the country,” Buhari told Tinubu.
Reflecting on their political journey, Buhari expressed gratitude for Tinubu’s role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which led to his own two-term presidency. He credited Tinubu and other APC leaders for their dedication, which resulted in another APC-led government.
“No doubt, the annals of the country will not be complete without mentioning and recognizing the numerous roles of President Tinubu as an entrepreneur, party stalwart, activist, organizer, builder, reliable ally, and serial winner of democratic elections. I am truly proud of my association with the Asiwaju,” Buhari said.
He reaffirmed his belief in the APC’s vision, stating, “When Nigerians handed the baton of leadership to the APC in 2015, it was a mandate to lay the foundation for a new Nigeria where the poor get opportunities for a better future, and I am glad that the vision is not lost.”
Buhari also extended warm wishes to Tinubu, his family, and Nigerians for the successful completion of Ramadan and a joyful Eid celebration.
