Buhari meets APC governors ahead Tinubu’s running mate decision

President Muhammadu Buhari met with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday.
WesternPost gathered that the meeting was not unconnected with the choice of a running mate for the party’s presidential flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Kebbi State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Atiku Bagudu, led his other colleagues to the meeting with Buhari.
Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; Governors Babagana Zulum (Borno); Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna); Mohammed Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa); Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa); Simon Lalong (Plateau); Yahaya Bello (Kogi) and Hope Uzodinma of Imo State were also in attendance.
The governors are expected to have a say in who becomes the vice presidential candidate of the APC.
WesternPost had reported that the northern governors elected on the platform of the party played a big role in Tinubu’s emergence as the presidential candidate by insisting that power must shift to the South.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has given parties until Friday to submit their presidential and vice presidential candidates to the commission’s portal.
