Buhari sends 7 names to Senate for confirmation as ministers to replace Amaechi, Akpabio, others

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent seven ministerial nominees to the senate for confirmation.
The confirmation request was contained in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and read on the floor at the start of plenary on Tuesday.
President Buhari, in the letter, explained that the confirmation request was in accordance with the provisions of Section 147 subsection 2 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
The nominees for confirmation include: Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh (Abia), Umana Okon Umana (Akwa Ibom), Ekumankama Joseph Nkama (Ebonyi) and Goodluck Nana Opiah (Imo).
Others are Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub (Kano), Ademola Adewole Adegoroye (Ondo) and Odum Odi (Rivers).
The new ministerial nominees, if confirmed will replace those who resigned to pursue their political interest during the just concluded primaries. They include Godswill Akpabio, Rotimi Amaechi, Ogbonnaya Onu, Emeka Nwajiub, Uche Ogah, Tayo Alasoadura and Mohammed Nanono, who was removed as Minister of Agriculture.
