Buhari’s ex-CoS, Gambari urges FG to close developmental gap through globalization 

The Former Chief of Staff to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari has called on Nigeria to close the gap in technology between it and the developed world for the benefit of the citizenry.

Prof. Gambari made the call in Lagos during the 12th-anniversary lecture series of Realnews magazine.

The theme for the 12th-anniversary lecture and investiture into the Realnews Hall of Fame is “Africa in world shifting geopolitics: Matters arising on demography, technology, artificial intelligence, Natural resources.

Prof. Gambari noted that several social and political discontents, including growing crises of development and security reforms, have produced anti-globalization sentiments that are playing out in some countries in the world.

This he said must be checked to harmonise development across the globe.

Gambari’s hypothesis set the tone for a brainwave of ideas, with Speakers calling on Nigerians to take advantage of the possibilities of the new digital technologies and artificial intelligence.

Stakeholders said at a time of global realignment, future leaders of the continent must brace up for meaningful development to be attained.

There was a consensus among Speakers that there is need to harness abundant resources to aid development in order to achieve the structural transformation that has eluded Nigeria for too long.

Several speakers at the event also urge Nigeria to explore new possibilities made available by digital technologies including artificial intelligence.
