Burna Boy meets Fubara over school, healthcare projects in Rivers

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, has visited Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, amid plans to undertake community development projects in the state.
Although details of the meeting were not officially disclosed, reports indicate that the visit is linked to proposed interventions in Ahoada West Local Government Area, the singer’s community.
The development follows public outrage over the poor condition of a community school in the area after a teenager highlighted its state on social media, an incident that reportedly led to her alleged assault by a local government official.

In response, Burna Boy pledged to fund the reconstruction of the school as well as a health centre to improve access to education and healthcare services in the community.
However, the projects have faced challenges due to the absence of accessible roads leading to the area, raising concerns about their feasibility.
The singer visited the governor alongside his father, Samuel Ogulu, and music executive Soso Soberekon, in what observers believe is a move to seek government support for infrastructure, particularly road construction.
Social media personality VeryDarkMan said the visit was aimed at urging the state government to prioritise road development to enable the execution of the projects, noting that without proper access, the intervention may be difficult to implement.
“He is going to tell the governor to mandate whoever is in charge of the road project to fix the road leading to Ogbogolo, Ahoada West, to make it easy for us to build their school and enable access to quality education. We are also going to build healthcare for the community. The change starts from us,” he said.
