Bury differences, work together, Tambuwal charges PDP leaders

Sokoto State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, Aminu Tambuwal has urged leaders of the party to bury their differences and work together as the 2023 general elections approach.

Tambuwal was speaking at the PDP stakeholders meeting held at the Akwa Ibom State Lodge in Abuja Monday evening.

“In the face of despondency, in the face of hopelessness, there are still rays of hope to turn PDP into the ruling party in Nigeria,” he said.

“The by-elections have signalled what we shall expect to the glory of God in a matter of few months.

“On this note, I appeal that we all as leaders and members of this great party bury our differences and work together harmoniously. We must send the right signal to Nigerians, that yes we are united and ready to rescue this country.”

The PDP has been faced with a war of words between Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and his Edo State counterpart, Godwin Obaseki, in the last 24 hours.

Wike had, while reacting to Obaseki’s deputy, Philip Shaibu’s threat that they were going to leave the PDP if they continued to be treated like outcasts, described him as an ingrate.

This did not sit down well with Obaseki who published advertorial in the newspaper to defend his deputy.

Obaseki further accused Wike of treating PDP as his personal property, stating that Edo State could not be bullied nor procured.

Responding to Obaseki’s remarks, Wike said the Edo governor was a serial betrayal, apologising to Obaseki’s predecessor and former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole for not believing him.
