By-elections: Tinubu congratulates winners, commends INEC for peaceful polls
By Kunle Sanni –
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the winners of Saturday’s by-elections held in 16 constituencies across 12 states, praising the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting largely peaceful and hitch-free polls.
According to the results declared by INEC, the All Progressives Congress (APC) won 12 seats, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) secured two. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) won one seat each.
Tinubu also lauded the new APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on the party’s first electoral victory under his leadership, describing it as evidence of “leadership capacity and unity of purpose.”
“Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has demonstrated what is achievable when popular candidates are fielded and party leaders work together,” Tinubu said in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The President thanked party members and voters for their support, assuring them that his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda remains focused on building a “better, more secure, and prosperous Nigeria.”
Tinubu further commended all political parties and candidates for their participation, urging them to uphold sportsmanship, fairness, and magnanimity as vital ingredients of a strong democracy.
