CAF B-Licence Coaching Course kicks off in Nigeria

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), officially inaugurated the first batch of participants for the CAF B-Licence Coaching Course on Monday at the NFF-FIFA Technical Centre, located inside the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The NFF President expressed his excitement, saying, “Today marks a moment of great joy for me.” He highlighted the significance of progress in Nigerian football and praised the planning of the course. “This initiative has long been in the making, and seeing it come to fruition is incredibly fulfilling. It is also a pleasure to welcome coaches from other nations who are joining us for this important training.”
He commended the NFF Technical Department, led by Coach Augustine Eguavoen, for their diligent work in planning the course and urged all participants to focus and immerse themselves fully in the learning process. “This is a great opportunity for self-improvement. By the end of the year, we plan to launch a CAF A-License programme, and with the dedication of the Technical Department, we will achieve this,” he added.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, emphasized the course’s role in enhancing the quality of coaching in Nigerian football leagues. He stressed that without elite coaches, the performance of Nigeria’s teams would be hindered. “We aim to create a situation where our coaches can adopt modern methods and strategies and earn the necessary certifications, as the B-License is required for participation in international competitions, including inter-club tournaments.”
The CAF B-Licence Coaching Course is a vital part of the NFF’s strategy to improve coaching standards across Nigeria. The four-month course will be delivered in various modules to provide a comprehensive learning experience, with 25 participants in the first batch.
Also in attendance were NFF 2nd Vice President/Chairman of the NPFL, Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye; Chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Sub-Committee, Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa; Deputy General Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme; NFF Technical Director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen; Director of Legal Services, Okey Obi Esq.; Acting Director of Competitions, Ms. Ruth David; and other key NFF Technical Department officials, including former Nigeria internationals Abdulrafiu Yusuf and Nasiru Jibril, and Head of Coaching Education, Dr. Terry Eguaoje.
