By Damilola Akinwale –
Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Carolyna Hutchings has announced her voluntary exit from the reality television show The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOL), citing personal reasons.
Hutchings announced her decision in a lengthy Instagram post on Monday, expressing her desire to distance herself from anything related to the show and stating that she had moved on.
The actress explained that she was tired of being associated with the drama involving other cast members even after the programme had ended, saying it continued to influence public perception of her career, private life and relationships despite having a life and career outside the reality show.
Speaking about her career, Hutchings said she had spent more than two decades in the entertainment industry, featuring in over 60 films, producing three award-winning movies and creating jobs for hundreds of people.
The actress said she enjoyed acting, storytelling and being in front of the camera but described herself as an “extreme introvert” who was selective about the people she allowed into her personal space.
Addressing speculations about her relationship with other cast members, Hutchings maintained that she did not consider any of them her friends outside the show, noting that her kindness should not be mistaken for friendship.
She described her participation in RHOL as a chapter of her life that she enjoyed but said the chapter was now closed. She, however, left open the possibility of returning to the programme in the future, expressing appreciation to the producers, Showmax and Africa Magic for the opportunity to participate in the franchise.
The actress joined the maiden edition of the show when it premiered in 2022. She took a break from the second season but returned for the third season before announcing her decision to leave the show.
