The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has reiterated its commitment to the creation of Ibadan State, describing the agenda as a central priority under its newly inaugurated executive council.

Speaking on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony held at Ibadan House, Oke Aremo, the CCII President-General, Chief (Barr.) Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, declared that the push for Ibadan State is not rooted in politics but driven by a desire for justice, equity, and historical recognition.

“Above all, my main priority in this new term remains the actualisation of Ibadan State. This is not about politics—it is about fairness, equity, and recognition of Ibadan’s place in Nigeria’s history and development,” Ajewole said.

The inauguration marks the beginning of Ajewole’s second term in office, alongside a team of newly elected and returning officers. He expressed deep appreciation to God, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for their continued support.

Ajewole also called for unity among all Ibadan sons and daughters, both within and outside Nigeria, while outlining notable achievements from his first tenure. These include the completion of the new Olubadan Palace, the establishment of the Basorun Kola-Daisi Vocational Training Centre, and the elevation of the Ibadan Cultural Festival to international prominence.

He further disclosed a significant leap in the council’s finances—from ₦340,000 in 2023 to over ₦70 million—attributing the growth to transparency, collective effort, and an unwavering commitment to Ibadan’s progress.

The President-General urged the newly inaugurated executives to embrace their responsibilities with selflessness and a spirit of service.
