CHAN 2025: Tough draw awaits CHAN Eagles

By Olaolu Joseph
Nigeria’s Super Eagles Team B could face a challenging first round at the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) after failing to secure a spot among the seeded teams.
The draw ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
This marks the Eagles’ return to the tournament after a six-year absence. They earned their spot in the competition by defeating perennial rivals Ghana 3-1 on aggregate in the final qualifying round last weekend.
CAF has announced that teams will be seeded based on their performances in the last three CHAN editions (2022, 2020, and 2018). Pot 1 will include co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, alongside defending champions Senegal.
CHAN is exclusively for national teams composed of players actively participating in their respective local leagues. The championship is set to run from February 1 to February 28, 2025.
