CHAN: Nigeria drawn against Senegal, Congo, Sudan in group stage

Nigeria, the 2018 silver medallists, have been drawn in Group D alongside Senegal, Sudan, and the Republic of Congo for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN). The tournament, originally scheduled earlier, has been moved to August 2025 and will still be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
The draw ceremony took place on Wednesday evening at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi. Joint-hosts Kenya headline Group A, which includes Morocco, Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia. Kenya will face 2018 champions Morocco in the opening match of the tournament.
Tanzania, another joint-host, will lead Group B, where they will compete against Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic, the team that eliminated Cameroon. All five teams will battle for two spots in the knockout stage.
Uganda, the third joint-host, will contest in Group C against Niger Republic, Guinea, and two wild card teams yet to be determined by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
