CHAN qualifier: Olopade warns Super Eagles B against complacency

As the Super Eagles Team B prepares for the decisive second-leg CHAN 2025 qualifier against Ghana’s Black Galaxies, the team has been cautioned against complacency.

The warning came from the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade, ahead of the winner-takes-all match at the Goodswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo. The first leg ended in a goalless draw last Sunday in Accra, leaving everything at stake for the return fixture.

Speaking about the match, Olopade urged the team to capitalize on home advantage, remain disciplined, and approach the game with determination and tactical focus.

“This is not the time to relax or underestimate the opposition. The team must stay focused and give their best to avoid a repeat of past disappointments against Ghana. The stakes are high, and the country is counting on them to deliver,” Olopade said.

Olopade reminded the players of Nigeria’s failed Qatar 2022 World Cup qualification, where a goalless draw in Ghana was followed by a home defeat in Abuja. He called the CHAN qualifier an opportunity for redemption.

“This is a chance to bring pride to the nation. Stay united, maintain focus, and secure the victory we need,” he added.

The home-based Super Eagles B, supported by fans in Uyo, will aim to clinch a ticket to the 8th African Nations Championship.
