Chelle charges wards ahead of Mozambique match

By Tosin Omojola –
Ahead of Monday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) second-round game against Mozambique, Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has warned his boys against complacency.
After a perfect preliminary stage performance, the Eagles are set for the next phase with the Mambas of Mozambique as their opponents.
Speaking with the players during their build-up session, Chelle warned the players against being carried away by first-round success, urging them to remain focused.
Apparently aware of the huge expectations of Nigerians, which have been boosted by their splendid first-round showing, the former Malian national team handler said the team would not, in any way, underrate the Mambas.
Meanwhile, the latest report from the Eagles’ camp revealed that Cyriel Dessers has been ruled out of the tournament due to a thigh injury and has since returned to his club.
Both Ryan Alebiosu and Tochukwu Nnadi were not involved in training, as Alebiosu is still recovering from the injury he sustained in the match against Uganda, while Nnadi was ruled out due to a cold.
Group C winners, Nigeria will on Monday take on Mozambique, who qualified as the third best-placed team from Group D, in one of the AFCON second-round fixtures.
