The Nigerian Army on Friday hosted a delegation from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Defence University, marking a significant step toward enhancing military cooperation between the two nations.

The delegation, led by Rear Admiral Hu GangFeng, visited the Army Headquarters in Abuja to explore opportunities for collaboration in training, military education, and shared operational strategies.

The meeting underscores China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Nigeria in the defense sector.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, represented by the Deputy Chief of Training (Army), Major General Etsu-Ndagi, highlighted the Nigerian Army’s (NA) expertise in counter-terrorism and insurgency.

He emphasized the importance of customized training and dynamic operational strategies to address Nigeria’s unique security challenges.

“Sustained training, equipping, and innovative operational approaches have significantly enhanced the Nigerian Army’s counter-terrorism operations, resulting in the decimation of terrorist groups and reduced security threats across the country,” the COAS stated.

Rear Admiral Hu GangFeng commended the Nigerian Army’s efforts and reaffirmed China’s dedication to fostering international military partnerships.

He pledged support to the Nigerian Army, particularly in capacity-building and training, while emphasizing the value of shared learning between the two military institutions.
